LAHORE: Punjab has reported 1,374 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, marking the second straight day the province witnessed less than 1,500 infections.
The province’s caseload has risen to 413,182. In the last 24 hours, 13 more people succumbed to the coronavirus in Punjab, raising its death toll to 12,211.
In the last 24 hours, 549 people tested positive in Lahore, 157 in Rawalpindi, 99 in Faisalabad, 76 in Multan, 54 in Mianwali, 45 in DG Khan, 43 in Rahim Yar Khan, 40 in Bahawalpur, 23 each in Muzaffargarh and Kasur, 21 in Sahiwal, 20 in Sargodha, 19 in Khanewal, 17 each in Gujranwala, Layyah and Lodhran, 16 each in Jhang and Rajanpur, 15 each in Khushab and Sialkot, 14 in Sheikhupura, 11 in Gujrat, 10 in Toba Tek Singh, nine in Okara, eight in Nankana, seven in Vehari, four each in Pakpattan, Mandi Bahauddin, Chiniot, Chakwal and Bhakkar and three in Attock.
The positivity ratio in the province recorded at 6.6 per cent and 11pc each in Lahore and Faisalabad, 8pc in Rawalpindi, 5pc each in Multan and Gujranwala. Talking about the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch vaccination is the only and effective treatment against coronavirus.
He said a large number of citizens are participating in the vaccination campaign and there is no shortage of vaccine anywhere in the province.
